About The Position

The Patient Access Specialist I at Monument Health is an entry-level position that serves as the first point of contact for patients entering the facility. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 1+ years of customer service experience.
  • 1+ years of patient relations experience.
  • 1+ years of experience in medical patient accounts or financial services.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately collect patient demographics and verify identity and coverage information.
  • Assist in achieving strategic objectives by following Revenue Cycle guidelines and participating in quality assurance activities.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of payer information and benefits, including Medicare and Medicaid.
  • Perform point of service collections and daily reconciliation of cash drawer.
  • Initiate financial clearance by providing cost estimates for scheduled services.
  • Review authorization and referral records to confirm financial clearance.
  • Educate patients on regulatory compliance and obtain necessary forms and signatures.
  • Perform business office duties including handling incoming calls and patient communications.
  • Provide service excellence through friendly and caring interactions with patients.
  • Manage patient scheduling and check-out processes, including pre-arrival management.
  • Maintain registration-related work queues and resolve errors.
  • Work with electronic medical records and educate patients on their use.
  • Address account inquiries and escalate as necessary.
  • Assist clinical care teams as needed and perform patient movement activities.
  • Attend mandatory education and compliance sessions and comply with policies and procedures.
