About The Position

Nemours is seeking a Patient Access Specialist I (FULL-TIME), to join our Nemours Children's Health team in Kissimmee, Florida. Nemours Children's Hospital is the newest addition to the Nemours integrated healthcare system. Our 100-bed pediatric hospital also features the area's only 24-hour Emergency Department designed just for kids as well as outpatient pediatric clinics including several specialties previously unavailable in the region. In keeping with our goal of bringing Nemours care into the communities we serve; we also provide specialty outpatient care in several clinics located throughout the region.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Healthcare experience and customer service experience preferred.
  • Experience in Medical Office/Call Center.

Responsibilities

  • Provide exemplary service in accordance with Nemours Standards of Behaviors.
  • Perform registration functions accurately.
  • Meet or exceed collection standard by timely verification of insurance benefits.
  • Determine financial responsibility by creating a good faith estimate when applicable.
  • Verify and update demographics, insurance information, PCP and/or referral physician, pharmacy of preference for each encounter.
  • Explain all essential and legal forms for each service type and collect any patient responsibility or outstanding balance at the time of service.
  • Ensure all financial assessments, eligibility, and benefits are accurate.
  • Collect all patient responsibility amount due for services rendered.
  • Adhere to end of day business processing standard verifying cash analysis and receipts balances.
  • Properly identify patients and accurately update demographics information.
  • Secure the required forms to ensure compliance with regulatory and NCH policies.
  • Register bedside admissions utilizing the workstation on wheels or downtime process when necessary.
  • Perform pre-registration workflow when assigned.
  • Understand HIPAA privacy rules and use discretion when discussing patient related information.
  • Resolve all patient accounts subject to departmental standards including clearing the various Workqueues.
  • Cross cover registration functions to support the Patient Financial Services department as needed.
  • Practice and display Nemours' Standards of Behavior while adhering to all rules and regulations.
  • Maintain a close working relationship with clinical partners.
  • Complete all mandatory training and education in a timely manner.
  • Participate in huddles and/or department meetings as scheduled.
  • Meet attendance requirements and maintain schedule flexibility.
  • Exhibit effective time management skills by monitoring time and attendance.
  • Cross train with the Emergency Room.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager.
