About The Position

The Patient Access Services Representative I/II at Stockdale LLC is responsible for performing patient access, registration, and financial counseling activities. Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED and six (6) months of patient access experience for Level I.
  • High School diploma or GED and one (1) year of patient access experience for Level II.
  • Knowledge of state and federal government funding programs such as Medicare and Medi-Cal.
  • Understanding of billing and reimbursement guidelines for various payers.
  • Familiarity with medical and insurance terminology and HIPAA compliance practices.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Nice To Haves

  • Spanish bilingual preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Greets patients and schedules appointments for exams or follow-ups.
  • Assembles all data and documents required for complete patient registration.
  • Completes all insurance verifications and authorizations.
  • Enters patient demographic information into the hospital's EHR system.
  • Assesses patient financial responsibility and collects co-pays and deductibles at the time of admission.
  • Screens admissions and informs referring physician offices and patients about payment sources.
  • Interviews patients to determine eligibility for state-funded programs.
  • Obtains and documents funding information from patients and provides information on available resources.
  • Uses payer resources to explore and assess eligibility for various programs.
  • Collaborates with revenue cycle areas to identify and resolve issues.
  • Maintains fiscal records and files and enters fiscally related information into databases.
  • Submits and responds to requests for information related to patient access processes.
