The Patient Access Service Representative serves as the first point of contact for patients within a hospital-based setting, including the Emergency Department, Inpatient Units, Obstetrics, and Outpatient Services. This role supports patients through the administrative process of accessing medical care by providing exceptional customer service and ensuring accurate, timely registration. Responsibilities include in-person patient intake, insurance verification, eligibility and benefits review, authorization acquisition, and the generation of patient estimates for services rendered. The Patient Access Service Representative also provides financial counseling, collects patient liability, and effectively resolves customer concerns while maintaining a compassionate, professional approach in a fast-paced healthcare environment. Schedule: 40hrs wk. Monday - Friday, 8hr shifts between the hours of 6am-6pm This position is the first point of contact at healthcare facilities and assists patients with the administrative aspect of gaining access to medical treatment. This position is in a hospital-based setting which includes Emergency Dept, Inpatient, Obstetrics, Outpatient, etc. Responsible for in person patient intake and registration, providing superior customer service, accurately identifying, and obtaining authorizations patients’ insurance, verifying eligibility and benefits, generating patient estimates for services rendered, financial counseling, and collecting patient liability. Demonstrates the ability to resolve customer issues and provides excellent customer service.
