Patient Access Scheduler
About The Position
Baptist Health is seeking a Patient Access Scheduler to join their team in Louisville, KY. This role is responsible for scheduling patients for diagnostic tests and procedures as ordered by referring physicians, typically via Epic, fax, or telephone. The Patient Access Scheduler will manage a large volume of incoming calls or faxes and coordinate multiple procedures across various departments. As the first point of contact for patients and physician offices, the individual must ensure their needs are met, demonstrating expert customer service and communication skills in a fast-paced environment. Key duties include informing patients and/or physician staff of proper preparation and instructions for tests, identifying necessary precertifications, authorizations, and referrals, and maintaining effective communication with patients, physician offices, and ancillary hospital departments. The position also requires pre-registration, creation of payment estimates, insurance verification, and benefit evaluation prior to appointments, and retaining orders for all scheduled appointments before service.

Responsibilities

- Inform patients and/or physician staff of the proper preparation and instructions for the tests ordered
- Identify any precerts/authorizations/referrals they need to acquire
- Maintain effective communication with the patient, physician offices and ancillary departments within the hospital
- Perform pre-registration prior to appointment
- Create payment estimates prior to appointment
- Conduct insurance verification prior to appointment
- Perform benefit evaluation prior to appointment
- Retain orders for all scheduled appointments prior to service
