Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalency required.
  • Minimum of 2 years in a doctor's office or Admitting Dept. preferred.
  • Computer literacy, good keyboard skills, proficiency in medical terminology preferred.
  • Spanish speaking preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in the team approach within Admitting to provide a comprehensive, coordinated and seamless service to patients.
  • Assists the patient through the registration process, obtains current and accurate demographic and insurance information.
  • Validates status of insurance and determines amount to be covered by private carrier.
  • Makes appropriate referrals to assist the uninsured population.
  • Collects required fees and co-pays.
  • Verifies participation in managed care programs as well as authorization for hospital service with primary care provider.
  • Schedules all ordered testing for outpatients and pre-surgical encounters.
