About The Position

Responsible for the first impression received by patients and visitors; obtaining all necessary personal, financial, and insurance data, and using proper interviewing techniques for registering information into the system. Must be able to effectively, courteously, and professionally deal with a variety of situations, diverse clientele, and assist patients, visitors, and staff with questions. Knowledge with the system required to register patients accurately, precisely, and compile needed reports.

Responsibilities

  • Registers patients in a timely and accurate manner by entering demographic, insurance, physician, and other defined information while following established registration standards.
  • Requests and accepts deposits toward individuals’ deductible and/or coinsurance amounts from patients based on current deposit matrix/patient estimator tools and posts payments correctly.
  • Provide patients/families and/or third party payors with information on charges and insurance concerns.
  • Utilizes referrals to Patient Advocates for assistance with financial arrangements.
  • Demonstrates good rapport, continual education updates and cooperative working relationship with physician office’s staff, all hospital departments, physicians and co-workers.
  • Assists clerical staff to requisition services for patients as directed and coordinate appointments with respective departments.
  • Assists with the collection and maintenance of records as needed for performance improvement in the department, Joint Commission accreditation, and OSHA guidelines, CMS or as may be required by the law.
  • Requisition supplies and equipment, maintenance and repair services and prepare related forms.
