Time Type: Full time Department: OB/GYN All Locations: 20 Maverick Square – Cradock Building Position Summary: Primarily performs patient access related activities based upon department need in support of the delivery of patient care. All patient access staff is responsible for the delivery of exceptional customer service. This position is generally a front line staff position which includes encounters with patients in person or over the telephone and requires a unique skill set to be successful.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • One year of customer service experience; previous experience in health insurance or medical setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Interacts with patients and staff with courtesy, concern, respect, and sensitivity.
  • Identifies and verifies patient demographics, insurance and account information at the time of patient’s visit.
  • Edits patient demographics, insurance and account information.
  • Facilitates efficient patient flow.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Collects, tracks and data enters all co-payments and other payments in the form of cash, checks, and credit card transactions following cash collection policy and procedures and promptly reporting any related issues.
  • Actively refers uninsured/underinsured patients to the enrollment Department.
  • Promotes a sense of teamwork.
  • Telephone support as needed: answers phones in a pleasant and cordial manner and redirects calls appropriately
