About The Position

As a Patient Access Representative at MaineGeneral Health, you will play a crucial role in ensuring seamless financial clearance, registration, and clerical processes for direct and scheduled patient admissions. Your responsibilities will involve interacting with patients and their families, providing a warm welcome, facilitating check-ins for services, and ensuring accurate information for clinical staff.

Requirements

Relevant customer service experience.
Excellent and demonstrated communication skills.
Ability to keyboard accurately and quickly.

Nice To Haves

1 year of patient registration, scheduling, or other clerical/customer service experience in a medical office setting.

Responsibilities

Perform financial clearance, registration, and clerical duties related to point-of-service (POS) services.
Meet with patients or caregivers to exchange necessary information, explain processes, and address concerns or questions.
Communicate effectively with unit staff and other relevant personnel to exchange information and determine placement.
Verify insurance benefits, obtain precertification/authorization, and ensure verification of medical necessity.
Determine and accept required payments, including co-pays, deductibles, and coinsurance, or refer to financial counselors for follow-up.
Ensure timely and accurate entry of all necessary demographic, billing, and clinical information into the registration system.
