About The Position

The Patient Access Representative provides a positive patient experience to patients and families in an outpatient setting. This role requires strong communication and customer service skills for registering patients, accurately searching and selecting patient records, and gathering complete and accurate demographic and insurance information. The representative is also responsible for identifying uninsured patients for referral to Medical Assistance/Charity Care evaluation, retrieving orders, confirming medical necessity, and answering phones for outpatient visits. Additionally, the position involves gathering worker’s comp or auto insurance information from accident patients, collecting patient out-of-pocket liability/copays, verifying insurance, and confirming that referrals and authorizations are on file when required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum 3 years of customer service experience, in customer facing type roles (Outpatient/Admissions)

Nice To Haves

  • Associates degree in healthcare or business administration preferred
