Patient Access Representatives deliver what matters most to our patients and their families, ensure exceptional experiences and thrive on making positive impacts in the community. As a Patient Access Representative, you will pre-register and greet patients in the Emergency Department, verify information and collect copays for diagnostic services and pre-register patients for outpatient services. Your role is essential to ensuring a seamless model of access for patients, physicians and family members and setting the tone for how their visit to the Emergency Department goes. A caregiver in this position works Monday-Friday from 7:00AM – 4:30PM and every 3rd weekend from 3:00PM – 11:00PM.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED and two years of experience in a customer facing role with in-person or phone contact OR an Associate’s Degree and one year of experience OR a Bachelor’s Degree
  • Knowledge of medical terminology sufficient to understand physician orders OR completion of course within one year
  • Basic PC software application knowledge and ability to use multiple data systems
  • Dexterity sufficient to operate a PC and other office equipment.
  • Requires extended periods of standing, walking or sitting.
  • Good visual acuity through normal or corrected vision.
  • Must be able to navigate various locations and function in a fast-paced, hectic environment.
  • Ability to lift and transport up to 25 pounds.
  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
  • You will be required to comply with this program, which will include obtaining an influenza vaccination on an annual basis or obtaining an approved exemption.

Responsibilities

  • Perform registration and complete an accurate face-to-face interview to obtain demographic, insurance, medical and financial information.
  • Crosstrain to staff all areas of patient access, such as front desk, admitting office, ED and cash register.
  • Function as a Super User and act as a resource for training of new caregivers.
  • Provide registration and cash collection access in Epic.
