About The Position

The Patient Access Representative is responsible for providing front line support within the department, ensuring effective and efficient office activities. This role involves greeting and registering patients, supporting the check-out process, and scheduling future appointments as necessary. The representative plays a crucial role in managing patient interactions and ensuring compliance with organizational policies and procedures.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED) is required.
• Minimum of 1 year of related work experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Check patients in for appointments and verify demographics accurately.
• Complete all check-in procedures and monitor patient wait times, communicating changes as necessary.
• Read and interpret insurance responses and assign insurance correctly per encounter.
• Ensure patients receive necessary disclosure and privacy information, obtaining required legal and financial signatures.
• Communicate financial obligations to patients and collect fees at the time of service as appropriate.
• Complete necessary regulatory forms with patients and schedule follow-up appointments as needed.
• Process multi-channel messages related to patient and physician requests regarding appointments, referrals, prescriptions, and complaints.
• Notify patients or guarantors of anticipated financial responsibilities and collect accordingly.
• Perform cash posting following department guidelines.
• Maintain confidentiality and abide by organizational and HIPAA guidelines.
• Independently work queues to ensure timely resolution of all accounts.
• Maintain productivity and quality performance expectations.
• Accurately perform medical record maintenance and releases.
• Assist with referrals and pre-certifications at the time of encounter.
• Utilize and maintain patient recall and reschedule lists.
