About The Position

Requirements

  • High School Diploma.
  • 2 years of experience in Patient Access or related fields such as general physician office support, billing office, insurance office, hospitality, or call center.
  • Intermediate math skills acquired through classroom work or work experience.
  • Typing speed of 25 WPM.
  • Basic understanding of web-based systems and proficiency in data entry.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and acknowledge all patients and family members in a welcoming and prompt manner.
  • Introduce the patient to services and explain what they can expect while under care.
  • Provide information on the likely time spent in the service area, including registration and clinical service time.
  • Explain the nature of work and the importance of demographic, socio-economic, and financial information.
  • Collect appropriate out-of-pocket expenses in accordance with policy.
  • Use electronic systems to confirm insurance coverage and discuss findings with patients.
  • Screen uninsured patients for urgent status and follow charity procedures.
  • Notify relevant parties about uninsured patients or those with specific insurance types.
  • Maintain knowledge of computer software programs to verify eligibility.
  • Ensure accurate entry of patient demographic and insurance information in the ADT system.
  • Participate in departmental team building activities and in-services.
