About The Position

The Patient Access Representative position at North Valleys provides 24/7 emergency care in a convenient setting. This full-service emergency room is capable of treating life-threatening injuries as well as less urgent issues. A skilled team of emergency-trained physicians, nurses, imaging, and laboratory staff deliver high-quality care similar to that of a hospital ER. The facility features a wide range of capabilities and technology, is easily accessible, and has ample parking. Northern Nevada Health System (NNHS) is a regional multi-facility system that has excelled at offering quality care to residents of the greater Truckee Meadows. The system includes Northern Nevada Medical Center, a 124-bed acute care hospital in Sparks, and Sierra Medical Center, the first full-service hospital built in the region in over a century. NNHS also provides family, internal, and sports medicine, as well as a wide range of specialty care through Northern Nevada Medical Group. The Patient Access Representative position is per diem and offers a convenient flexible schedule.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate required.
  • Healthcare experience preferred.
  • Patient registration experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule, greet, pre-register and/or register patients in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Verify insurance benefits and check for authorization, pre-certification, notice of admission, physician order accuracy, and medical necessity.
  • Obtain patients' signatures for required forms, run estimates, and collect patient financial responsibility when required.
  • Provide professional, high-quality customer service and timely resolution to customer problems.
  • Communicate revenue cycle related issues to patients and hospital colleagues.
  • Rotate into various areas of the Patient Access Department including the Emergency Room and may work a variety of shifts.
  • Acknowledge patients/patients' families/visitors in a courteous and pleasant manner as they arrive in the department.
  • Escort or provide escort for patients when necessary.
  • Direct patients to the appropriate areas.
  • Utilize appropriate and professional verbal communication skills when conversing with patients and other internal and external customers.
