About the position

In this role you will be responsible for completing the inpatient and outpatient scheduling, registration, and insurance verification processes within patient access. You will create the first impression of the hospital's services to patients, family members, and other external customers. You will need to articulate information in a manner that patients, guarantors, and family members can understand while maintaining the highest level of customer service. Additionally, you will accurately gather and enter all information into the hospital computer system to expedite efficient data collection, billing, and hospital reimbursement. You will utilize your knowledge of revenue cycle processes and automated scheduling, registration, collections, and telecommunications applications. Proficiency in using modern office equipment is also required. You should be knowledgeable about insurance eligibility software and access readers, and be able to multitask while maintaining composure in stressful situations, utilizing appropriate resources. Excellent interpersonal communication skills are essential to effectively and professionally represent the department.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required.
  • 1 year business or medical secretarial curriculum preferred with emphasis in customer services, knowledge of healthcare setting, or equivalent of education and job-related experience.
  • Medical terminology course.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and computers/software/hardware.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certified patient account technician (CPAT) preferred.
