About The Position

RiverView Health, is a community owned, membership based non-profit organization that was formed in 1898 and continues to be the sole community hospital in Crookston, MN. RiverView Health operates a 25 bed Critical Access Hospital, RiverView Recovery Center; a chemical dependency outpatient treatment program, RiverView Home Care and five primary care and specialty clinics in the hospitals service area. RiverView is an Equal Employment Opportunity employer. River View Health has an opening for a full time (80 hours every 2 weeks) Patient Access Representative. This position would cover shifts between 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. in our Crookston Clinic/Hospital and would have a weekend rotation once every 6 weeks from (9 a.m. - 1 p.m.). This position will be cross trained to the Emergency Department for Patient Access responsibilities in that area when needed.

Requirements

Minimum two (2) years of customer service experience
Ability to sit, stand or walk for long periods of time
Ensure accurate data entry for patient registration and scheduling
Ability to work effectively in a team environment

Nice To Haves

Experience in health care setting
Proficiency with Microsoft Office
1+ years of experience in a Patient Access setting
1+ years of experience with an Electronic Medical Record such as Epic
Basic knowledge of medical terminology and medical insurance

Responsibilities

Answers phones and schedules patients.
Greets and registers patients while collecting and accurately entering all information required for visit.
Communicates clearly and effectively with patients and families, physicians, nurses and insurance companies.
Performs insurance verification either real time or manual verification for eligibility.
Performs point of service, collection of co-pays and other patient liability..
Obtains signatures for all necessary documents.
Safeguards and reconciles all monies collected daily in compliance to cash handling policies and procedures.
