Requirements

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for the Healthcare Provider certified or obtained within three (3) months of hire.
  • Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training specific to population served within three (3) months of hire.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Computer experience required.
  • Prefer at least one year of experience in the medical office setting.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology desirable.
  • Cardiovascular Medical Terminology class completion within 1 year of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Greets patients/family members and obtains and/or verifies demographic, clinical, financial and insurance information in the process of registering patients for service delivery.
  • Enters patient/guarantor information in the patient accounting system.
  • Collects patient signatures on all appropriate forms and images/copies registration documents.
  • Obtains and processes signed physician orders.
  • Conducts online insurance eligibility/benefit verification on designated cases.
  • Notifies patient/guarantor of charge estimates and collects patient liabilities.
  • Refers appropriate cases to financial counseling for follow-up and consultation.
  • Provides escort and directional support to patients, family members and visitors.
  • Enhances the patient experience throughout all patient interactions.
