The Patient Access Representative is responsible for accurately registering patients seeking access to hospital services, ensuring a smooth admission process. This role involves verifying insurance eligibility, generating cost estimates, and assisting patients with financial arrangements, all while maintaining thorough documentation of patient accounts.

  • Perform accurate and complete registration and admission of patients requiring access to hospital services.
  • Verify insurance eligibility for all patients.
  • Generate estimates on all eligible patients, including calling insurance companies to obtain deductibles and co-pay for patient responsibility.
  • Ensure that all actions are thoroughly documented on all patient accounts.
  • Assist self-pay patients with up-front financial payments.
  • Assist in the successful resolution of payment of the bill in the most expedient manner, while maintaining a current understanding of all options available including making payment arrangements and marketing financial alternatives to the patient.
  • Participate in Handle with Care annually or CPI participation every 2 years.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, interpersonal and problem solving skills.
  • Knowledge of third party payer admissions and registration requirements.
  • General understanding of medical terminology and procedures.
  • Previous clerical, collections and credit experience.
  • Knowledge of healthcare accounts receivable billing and collections.
  • Experience with automated systems applications.
