The Role: Patient Access Representative - Imaging Department MaineGeneral Health is currently seeking a Patient Access Representative to perform financial clearance, registration, and clerical duties associated with point-of-service (POS) services for our patients and families in our Imaging department. The Opportunity: MaineGeneral Health has an exciting opportunity for you to join our team of Patient Access professionals. Requirements

• Extensive customer service experience.
• Excellent and demonstrated communication skills/Computer literacy.
• 1 year of patient registration, scheduling, or other clerical/customer service experience in a medical office setting preferred.
• Ability to keyboard accurately and quickly.
• Basic insurance knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

• Meets with patient or patient's caregiver to exchange necessary information and documentation.
• Provides an explanation of the process and addresses concerns and questions.
• Communicates with unit staff and other appropriate personnel to exchange necessary information and determine placement.
• Verifies insurance benefits and obtains precertification/authorization, and ensures verification of medical necessity as necessary.
• Determines and accepts required payments, including co-pays deductibles, and coinsurance, or refers to financial counselors for follow up.
• Ensures that all necessary demographic, billing, and clinical information is obtained and entered into the registration system with timeliness and accuracy.
