The Patient Access Representative II plays a crucial role in supporting departmental efficiencies within a healthcare setting. This position involves performing various tasks related to patient scheduling, registration, pre-admission, admission, reception, and discharge functions. The representative is responsible for obtaining accurate patient demographic information and employing compliant patient liability collection techniques throughout the patient care process.

  • Greeting customers following Conifer Standards of Care and providing world-class customer service.
  • Completing full patient registration at the date of service.
  • Adhering to financial and cash control policies and procedures.
  • Explaining and securing hospital and patient legal forms such as Advance Directives and Consent for Treatment.
  • Scanning Protected Health Information and creating patient information packets for upcoming hospital services.
  • Assisting with scheduling diagnostic procedures and providing appointment instructions to customers.
  • Educating patients about financial liabilities and employing compliant collection techniques.
  • Performing hospital cash reconciliation and secured payment entry in adherence to financial policies.
  • Verifying insurance, benefits, coverage, and eligibility for patients.
  • Completing assigned registration financial clearance work lists and obtaining insurance authorizations for services.
  • Assisting with scheduling and coordinating post-discharge care for patients.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 0 - 1 year in a Customer Service role.
  • 0 - 1 year administrative experience in a medical facility or health insurance preferred.
  • Some college coursework is preferred.
  • Minimum typing skills of 35 wpm.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of PC/CRT/printer.
  • Knowledge of function and relationships within a hospital environment preferred.
  • Customer service skills and experience.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to receive and express detailed information through oral and written communications.
  • Course in Medical Terminology required.
  • Understanding of Third Party Payor requirements preferred.
  • Understanding of Compliance standards preferred.
  • Experience in at least two Patient Access service areas including Emergency Department (ED).
  • Ability to interpret physician orders and medical terminology.
