About The Position

The Patient Access Representative (PAR) is responsible for patient-facing registration and associated tasks such as information collection, validation, and requisitioning of orders and services. This role participates in insurance-related tasks including verification, collection of co-payments, and collection of associated paperwork. The PAR ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and hospital policies and protocols, acting as a liaison between patients, providers, payers, and other related stakeholders for all post-care matters related to account resolution.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to lift more than 25lbs if needed.

Nice To Haves

• Customer service experience.
• Electronic Medical Record (EMR) experience, preferably EPIC.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the initial point of contact within the health system for patients and families.
• Secure accurate information and interpret patient responsibility.
• Obtain accurate patient identification for financial and operational success.
• Greet customers courteously and professionally, addressing them by name.
• Attempt to resolve customer questions and concerns effectively.
• Adapt to changes in the work environment and meet shift expectations.
• Handle challenging customer interactions with professionalism.
• Obtain and verify patient information for registration purposes.
• Maintain contact with third-party payers to determine reasons for outstanding claims and facilitate speedy payment.
• Request payment of financial dues from patients or guarantors.
• Obtain federally required and hospital-related consents in a timely manner.
• Reconcile daily bank bags and post dues collected or data entry within the financial system.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and work in various patient settings and locations.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
