About The Position

The position involves welcoming patients and their family members in a professional and friendly manner, ensuring that all necessary registration information is collected accurately. Responsibilities include interviewing patients to obtain demographic, insurance, and emergency contact information, as well as verifying insurance coverages and assigning insurance plans. The role requires the individual to ensure that all necessary signatures are obtained, and that a patient wristband is placed on the patient's wrist. Additionally, the registrar will answer questions regarding services, charges, insurance billing, and payment of accounts, while producing and aligning paperwork for each patient to establish their medical record and financial file. The registrar is also responsible for ensuring that charts are complete and accurate, and will perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • At least one year of registration experience preferred.
  • Good computer skills are required.

  • Basic skills - able to perform basic mathematical calculations, balance and reconcile cash drawer, use correct grammar & spelling, and transcribe accurately.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome patient and family members in a professional and friendly manner.
  • Contact nursing staff for emergency medical needs.
  • Interview patients to obtain all necessary demographic, insurance, and emergency contact information.
  • Go into patient rooms or exam rooms as required to gather all necessary registration information and documents.
  • Scan copies of picture ID and insurance card(s) into account.
  • Verify all insurance coverages.
  • Assign insurance plans accurately in the account.
  • Ensure that all necessary signatures are obtained.
  • Ensure that a patient wrist band is placed on the patient's wrist.
  • Answer any questions and explain policies regarding services, charges, insurance billing and payment of account.
  • Produce paperwork for each patient for distribution to appropriate departments.
  • Align pertinent documents for establishing the patient's medical record and financial file.
  • Ensure charts are complete and accurate.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
