About The Position

The Patient Access Representative at Geisinger is responsible for providing front-line support in the ConvenientCare department. This role involves greeting and registering patients, managing the check-out process, and scheduling future appointments, ensuring a smooth and efficient patient experience.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED) is required.
• Minimum of 1 year of related work experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Check patients in for appointments and verify demographics accurately.
• Complete all check-in procedures and monitor patient wait times, communicating changes as necessary.
• Read and interpret insurance responses and assign insurance ranks appropriately.
• Ensure patients receive necessary disclosure and privacy information, obtaining legal and financial signatures.
• Communicate financial obligations to patients and collect fees at the time of service as appropriate.
• Complete all necessary regulatory forms with patients and schedule follow-up appointments as needed.
• Process multi-channel messages related to patient and physician requests regarding appointments, referrals, prescriptions, and complaints.
• Notify patients or guarantors of anticipated financial responsibilities and collect accordingly.
• Perform cash posting following department guidelines.
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA guidelines and patient rights.
• Accurately perform medical record maintenance and releases.
• Assist with referrals and pre-certifications during patient encounters.
• Utilize and maintain patient recall and reschedule lists.
