Requirements

  • Post secondary education or equivalent training in a healthcare or business related field is preferred
  • Previous customer service experience in an office setting, preferably in a healthcare setting
  • Knowledge of registration procedures, extensive computer skills, basic knowledge of system applications, billing systems, and third party payers is preferred
  • Medical terminology desired

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients & verify demographics
  • Create, scan & route documents or electronic forms
  • Inform patients what the document is & capture signatures on necessary paperwork
  • Establish and assign financial responsibility and assist with arrangements while adhering to appropriate policies and procedures
  • Collect co-payments, pre-payments, and payments on account balances
  • Work through the registration work queue to address and resolve registration errors or denied insurance claims
  • Work with nursing team & providers to coordinate & schedule appointments to meet patient's needs
  • Obtain and coordinate referrals & conduct pre-authorization
  • Arrange interpreter services
  • Check patients in/out
  • Operate multi-line phone
  • Resolve work queue issues, manage recall and waitlists, & serve as switchboard operator calling codes and paging providers
  • Prepare & coordinate charts
  • Organize supporting provider documents
  • Initiate & collaborate on patient financial assistance
  • Track patient visits & health information management on patient accounts
  • Compile, distribute, administer, and score assessments
  • Coordinate Telemed appointments
  • Make reminder calls for appointments
  • Assist with hospital admission
  • Perform office duties, such as making copies or sending faxes
