About The Position

The position is responsible for accurately registering patients in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system, including validating patient information, verifying insurance coverage, collecting required payments, and ensuring that the patient's experience is best in class. The role involves monitoring and managing the flow of patients through the clinic, utilizing initiative to enhance the patient experience. Additionally, the position requires assisting patients with access to government and community resources to improve their access to healthcare services. The individual will work closely with physicians, nurse practitioners, and nursing staff to ensure timely completion of referrals to other providers, services, and facilities in accordance with payor requirements. The role also includes facilitating patient access to information, such as MyChart, and accurately updating patient records and charges as necessary. The position actively supports clinic, hospital, and health system initiatives aimed at improving day-to-day operations and patient outcomes.

Requirements

  • 6 months experience in a customer service/front desk role or a graduate of a front office/medical office program.
  • Bachelor's degree may substitute for experience.
  • High School or equivalent education.
  • Professional demeanor and excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and demonstrate critical thinking.
  • Demonstrated computer literacy and ability to learn Epic proficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately and efficiently register patients in Epic.
  • Monitor and manage the flow of patients through the clinic.
  • Review patient accounts to determine financial responsibility and arrange payment plans.
  • Assist patients with access to government and community resources.
  • Work closely with healthcare providers to ensure timely referrals.
  • Facilitate patient access to information, including MyChart access.
  • Accurately update patient records and enter charges as necessary.
  • Support clinic, hospital, and health system initiatives for operational improvement.
  • Manage cash in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Meet site collection goals.
  • Support performance excellence initiatives to improve patient outcomes and satisfaction scores.
  • Provide quality training and orientation for other team members.
