The Patient Access Representative plays a crucial role in ensuring high-quality customer service and patient safety at Shenandoah Medical Center. This position involves effective communication with patients and team members, performing account creation and registration tasks, and advocating for patients and families. The representative is responsible for gathering accurate demographic and insurance information, maintaining compliance with regulations, and providing exceptional support to enhance patient satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Communicates professionally and courteously with patients/customers and team members to promote high-quality customer service and patient safety.
  • Performs account creation and registration tasks to obtain complete and accurate demographic and insurance information.
  • Mentors new staff members and collaborates with an inter-disciplinary team to advocate for patients and families.
  • Maintains knowledge of policies and procedures to comply with departmental and regulatory needs, including HIPAA and OSHA.
  • Provides exceptional customer service support and ensures positive public relations with patients and hospital staff.
  • Assists with administrative duties and resolves patient account issues effectively.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Valid BLS Certification is preferred.
