About The Position

The position is responsible for accurately registering patients in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system, which includes validating patient information, verifying insurance coverage, collecting required payments, and ensuring that the patient's experience is best in class. The role also involves understanding and complying with state and federal regulations related to hospital registrations. The individual will work closely with patients, physicians, nurse practitioners, and nursing staff to facilitate patient access to healthcare services and information, including MyChart access. Additionally, the position supports clinic operations and performance excellence initiatives to improve patient outcomes and satisfaction scores.

Requirements

  • 6 months relevant experience in customer service, billing, registration, finance, or accounting in a medical office, hospital setting, or insurance office.
  • Bachelor's degree can substitute for required experience.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately and efficiently register patients in Epic.
  • Monitor and manage the flow of patients through the clinic to ensure a best-in-class experience.
  • Monitor patient schedules and review accounts to determine financial responsibility and arrange payment plans.
  • Assist patients with access to government and community resources for healthcare services.
  • Work closely with healthcare providers to ensure timely referrals to other services/facilities.
  • Facilitate patient access to information, including MyChart access.
  • Accurately update patient records and enter/update charges as necessary.
  • Support clinic, hospital, and health system initiatives for operational improvement.
  • Manage cash in accordance with policies to ensure accurate crediting to patient accounts.
  • Meet site collection goals.
  • Support performance excellence initiatives to improve patient outcomes and satisfaction scores.
  • Provide quality training and orientation for other team members when assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
