St. Louis Children's Hospital is looking for a Patient Access Rep II for our Convenient Care facility in O'Fallon, MO! This is a part-time position requiring 3 days per week with 8-hour shifts during the evening. St. Louis Children's Hospital is dedicated to improving the health and lives of children. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Experience in patient access or a related field is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and solve complex issues.
  • Knowledge of insurance carriers, Medicare guidelines, and federal/state regulations.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Familiarity with BJC systems and processes.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate all components of the patients' entrance into any BJC facility.
  • Perform hospital registration and scheduling within multiple BJC systems.
  • Ensure proper patient identification and register patients accurately.
  • Schedule appointments and verify insurance information.
  • Scan and retrieve documents within multiple BJC systems.
  • Validate that the order is complete, signed by the ordering provider, and the correct test is ordered.
  • Provide patients with preparation instructions for each scheduled procedure and educate them on financial responsibilities.
  • Collect applicable patient payments and ensure compliance with complex regulatory guidelines.
  • Understand and enforce hospital compliance with Medicare Secondary Payer (MSP), HIPAA Privacy Standards, Patient Bill of Rights and Responsibilities, Advance Directives, Consent to Treat, EMTALA, and JCAHO Requirements.
  • Communicate in a professional, positive, and patient-focused manner with all patients, families, and co-workers.
  • Utilize critical thinking skills to assess and respond to a variety of situations, anticipating patients' needs.
  • Mentor lesser skilled employees and consistently meet or exceed quality standards.
