About The Position

The Patient Access Representative I (PAR I) position at University Health is an entry-level role focused on performing essential registration functions for both outpatient and inpatient services. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience working in a customer service role or successful completion of the UH Patient Access Rep/Patient Scheduler Apprentice Program.
  • Strong communication skills to interview patients and families and exchange information with hospital staff, physicians, and third-party payors.
  • Concise written communication skills and keyboarding skills required.
  • Ability to observe in all Patient Access areas and pass a Patient Access Representative II competency exam within one year of hire date.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret clinical or business account information, financial and legal documents.
  • Ability to respond to sensitive inquiries or complaints from guests, regulatory agencies, staff, and business community members.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to deal with concrete and abstract concepts and interpret verbal, nonverbal, and written instructions.

Nice To Haves

  • Two years' experience with patient contact.
  • Experience with patient contact in a hospital, business, or insurance office.
  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology.

Responsibilities
