About The Position

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is seeking Registration or Scheduling Coordinators to join their team. These roles are crucial for delivering quality patient care and contributing to medical innovation. Registration & Scheduling Coordinators are expected to be experts in areas such as physician appointment scheduling, OR/admission, full-service scheduling (including pre-registration and registration), insurance verification, and patient liability determination and communication. The position involves providing accurate, up-to-date information to clinical staff and patients regarding products, services, and general procedures. Coordinators are also expected to create a positive first impression for patients and family members. Success in this role requires proficiency with various software packages, including Electronic Medical Records, scheduling and registration systems, ABN, eligibility, and document management software.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • PC knowledge
  • Interpersonal, verbal, and written communication
  • Minimum of six months of experience in customer service or a healthcare environment
  • Ability to work in multiple systems for assigned tasks, management and reporting
  • Strong problem-solving and presentation skills
  • High level of customer service skills
  • Able to prioritize and coordinate multiple tasks in a lively environment

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Windows, Excel, and Intranet/internet navigation tools
  • Medical terminology, coding, and third-party reimbursement experience

Responsibilities

  • Scheduling return appointments and/or other appointments as assigned
  • Assuring accurate appointment, demographic and insurance information is gathered to support clinical and financial needs including changes to insurance or other patient information
  • Providing support to physicians and consumers by coordinating their requests
  • Solving routine and complex customer problems and will be able to instruct them on where to address specific questions
  • Communicating regularly with clinical staff, medical secretaries, and staff within the product/service line to ensure customer and department staff needs are met
