The Patient Access Manager serves as the on-site leader overseeing all patient registration and access functions across five key entry points: Emergency Room, Radiology, Main Registration, Lab, and Medical Office Building. This role manages a team of approximately 20 direct reports and is responsible for ensuring operational excellence, compliance, and superior patient experience. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, organizational skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced healthcare environment while driving performance metrics and fostering staff engagement.

  • Oversee daily operations for all registration and patient access areas, including pre-service and point-of-service financial clearance activities.
  • Rotate on-call responsibilities with Team Lead every other weekend.
  • Manage staffing activities: hiring, training, scheduling, performance evaluations, and staff development.
  • Mentor supervisors and ensure team engagement aligned with organizational mission and goals.
  • Monitor and manage operational metrics to meet Service Level Agreements (SLAs), budgetary guidelines, and compliance standards.
  • Assist in short- and long-term planning for registration processes and implement action plans as needed.
  • Enforce departmental policies and contribute to policy development in accordance with hospital and corporate guidelines.
  • Communicate effectively with staff, leadership, and hospital executives regarding performance, challenges, and solutions.
  • Actively practice budget and cost management strategies.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory experience, including interviewing, hiring, training, and performance management.
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to resolve issues effectively.
  • Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems and general healthcare technology.
  • Exceptional organizational, analytical, and communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and adapt to change.
  • Knowledge of healthcare registration processes and financial clearance preferred.
