About The Position

The Patient Access Coordinator III at Sovah Health is responsible for performing receptionist, registration, and clerical duties associated with patient admissions. This role involves greeting patients, collecting necessary demographic and financial information, and assisting in the scheduling and registration processes to ensure a smooth patient experience.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Basic knowledge of CPT & ICD10 codes.
  • Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and Managed Care Payers, as well as Medical Terminology.
  • Ability to type 30 WPM with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Decisive judgment and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • Medium critical thinking skills.
  • Cross-trained in 2 or more areas of Patient Access and willing to be re-assigned as needed.
  • Ability to assess applicable CPT & HCPCS codes and obtain appropriate authorizations.

  • Experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Familiarity with patient access processes and systems.

Responsibilities

  • Perform receptionist, registration, and clerical duties associated with patient admissions.
  • Greet patients and obtain demographic and financial information.
  • Collect necessary signatures and payments from patients.
  • Assist in scheduling, pre-registration, and registration processes.
  • Ensure timely and accurate entry of demographic, billing, and clinical information into the registration system.
  • Distribute forms, documents, and educational handouts to patients and/or family members.
  • Meet with patients and caregivers to exchange necessary information and documentation.
  • Communicate with admitting physician's office and nursing unit staff regarding admissions.
  • Schedule appointments and communicate scheduling changes with appropriate departments.
  • Verify insurance benefits and validate authorizations/pre-certifications.
  • Review physician's orders for completeness and compliance requirements.
  • Complete estimations, process payments, and establish payment arrangements.
