About The Position

In this vital role, you'll expertly manage all core patient access functions with minimal supervision, including advanced insurance processes, complex scheduling, and providing training support for new team members. Requirements

  • Excellent customer service skills - both verbal and written communication
  • Strong organizational and planning abilities
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency with computers and related software including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • High School Diploma or GED (required)
  • 1-2 years insurance verification experience
  • 1-2 years of experience in a patient-facing clinical or healthcare setting
  • Must be able to work an 8-hour day with prolonged periods of sitting
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally

Responsibilities

  • Conduct all responsibilities on-site at our Long Beach clinic, supporting front office operations in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment.
  • Greet and interact with all patients, families, and visitors courteously and respectfully, in accordance with the Patient's Bill of Rights.
  • Complete the patient registration process by collecting and verifying demographics, insurance eligibility, and health information, either in person or by phone.
  • Accurately input and update patient information in real-time using the electronic health record (EHR) system.
  • Ensure all registration forms are completed and scanned into the EHR system.
  • Schedule, reschedule, and confirm appointments, including follow-ups and referrals, in coordination with clinical staff and provider offices including inbox tasks.
  • Verify insurance benefits and coverage; generate estimates and perform reverifications as needed.
  • Collect co-pays and outstanding balances; clearly communicate financial responsibilities to patients.
  • Assign appropriate financial classes and insurance plans to patient visits.
  • Secure required patient signatures for consent, financial agreements, and other regulatory forms.
  • Answer incoming calls promptly and professionally, following proper telephone etiquette.
  • Direct patients and families to appropriate clinic areas.
  • Identify and follow up on patient data discrepancies.
  • Perform additional administrative duties as assigned.
  • Handle escalated scheduling or registration issues independently.
  • Serve as a subject matter resource for other Patient Access Associates.
  • Provide cross-clinic support as needed to maintain operational coverage.
  • Maintain professionalism, empathy, and composure while assisting patients in high-traffic front office areas, including situations involving upset, frustrated, or distressed patients.
