About The Position

The Patient Access Associate Level I is responsible for obtaining all demographic information from patients, verifying insurance eligibility through online resources or phone calls, and entering bundles in the Avatar system. The role includes updating Teletracking with any anticipated insurance impacts and possible admissions, completing the MSPQ with patients or family members for all Medicare patients, and scanning patients' insurance cards and identification. The associate must ensure that all information is scanned under the correct episode along with the correct benefits. Additional responsibilities include photographing patients, creating labels for paperwork, printing patient bracelets, and having patients sign appropriate financial forms to allow the hospital to bill correctly. The associate will also advise the Financial Counselor when patients present with financial responsibilities for partial hospital admissions and refer patients for guidance regarding co-pays, payment plans, or applications for financial assistance. If credentialed as a Navigator, the associate may cover for the Financial Counselor Level II when needed. The position requires working with various desktop programs and office equipment.

Requirements

  • Ability to work with desktop computers and various programs including AVATAR, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, Teletracking, CERNER, and PatientTrak.
  • Experience working with a phone system and digital camera.
  • Familiarity with office equipment such as PC, copier, fax, and cordless headset.

Responsibilities

  • Obtains all demographic information from patients.

  • Photographs patients and creates labels for paperwork.
  • Prints patient bracelets when applicable.
  • Has patients sign appropriate financial forms for billing.
  • Advises Financial Counselor about patients with financial responsibilities.
  • Refers patients to Financial Counselor for guidance on co-pays and payment plans.
  • Covers Financial Counselor Level II duties if credentialed as a Navigator.
