About The Position

The Patient Access Associate - Per Diem role at Long Island Community Hospital involves providing essential support in patient registration and access services. Requirements

  • Effective communication skills with all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Interview patients to obtain necessary identification information and prepare required forms for treatment billing or record release authorization.
  • Apply ID bands to patients following the two identifier rule when necessary.
  • Contact insurance companies for notifications or information as needed.
  • Educate patients about Advance Directives and Charity Care when necessary.
  • Perform clerical duties and assist departments with various projects as directed by management.
  • Collect copayments, deductibles, and all hospital payments, entering them into the Emdeon system accurately.
  • Document all follow-ups and ensure all necessary signatures are obtained for consents and authorizations.
  • Distribute registration forms to various hospital locations and ensure all documentation is completed and scanned into the Electronic Document Imaging system.
  • Assist in patient movement and bed placement coordination, communicating effectively with unit secretaries and nurse managers.
  • Answer telephones professionally and relay messages clearly to the appropriate personnel.
