About The Position

This part-time position requires working 20 hours per week, primarily during the day shift with occasional evening shifts. The role involves direct supervision and requires the representative to maintain a professional demeanor while providing excellent customer service. The individual will conduct patient interviews to gather essential financial, biographic, and demographic information, explain financial requirements, and collect necessary deposits or deductibles. Additionally, the representative will schedule patient appointments, manage check-in and check-out processes, and handle various administrative tasks related to patient billing and records.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Less than 1 year of work experience, specifically 3 - 6 months in front desk or physician office experience.
  • Customer Service and Safety Reporting Training within 90 days.
  • Introduction to Medical Terminology within 180 days.
  • Insurance and Compliance Training within 1 year.

  • Diploma Program from Post High School Vocational/Specialized Training (Professional Medical, Administrative or Business School).

Responsibilities

  • Conducts patient interviews to collect accurate financial, biographic, and demographic information.
  • Explains financial requirements to patients or responsible parties and collects deposits or deductibles.
  • Explains insurance coverages and requirements for precertification/preauthorization.
  • Collects and reviews registrations to ensure accurate information is entered into systems.
  • Schedules patient appointments and processes necessary referral and pre-authorization forms.
  • Performs duties for effective check-in and check-out of patients.
  • Receives payments from patients and issues receipts as requested.
  • Reviews and completes pre-arrival and in-basket messages.
  • Reconciles daily cash and verifies account balances.
  • Researches billing questions and problems for patients.
  • Supports process flow improvement and provides feedback to the Supervisor.
  • Assists with service recovery.
  • Maintains established policies and procedures, objectives, and quality standards.
  • Participates in educational programs and in-service meetings.
  • Provides outstanding service to all customers and fosters teamwork.
