Valley View Medical Center is seeking a dedicated individual to provide exemplary customer service to patients, families, staff, physicians, and visitors. This role involves interacting with patients both in-person and over the phone, ensuring a positive experience during their visit. Responsibilities include interviewing patients to gather necessary information, responding to phone calls at the Concierge desk, and directing visitors. The position also requires handling patient records, verifying insurance information, and ensuring all necessary documentation is completed accurately. The individual will be responsible for maintaining patient accounts, collecting payments, and collaborating with various departments within the hospital.

  • Provide exemplary customer service to patients, families, staff, physicians, and visitors.
  • Interview patients at workstation or bedside to obtain necessary information.
  • Respond to phone calls at the Concierge desk and direct visitors accordingly.
  • Hand out paging disks to patients upon arrival for tests or procedures and explain their use.
  • Ensure correct medical record number assignment and notify medical records of duplicates.
  • Check physician orders for accuracy and attach them to patient files.
  • Manage recurring accounts by scanning orders and checking for new orders and authorizations.
  • Verify patient insurance for pre-certification/authorization and obtain necessary approvals.
  • Update Worker Compensation information and communicate with the relevant parties.
  • Complete Medicare Secondary Payor (MSP) Questionnaire as applicable.
  • Perform medical necessity checks on Medicare accounts as needed.
  • Scan insurance cards, identification, and other relevant documents into patient folders.
  • Administer consent forms and ensure necessary signatures are obtained.
  • Collect required payments including co-pays and deductibles, or refer to Benefits Advisor.
  • Use hospital computer systems to make account notes and produce paperwork for patient distribution.
  • Work with physician offices and hospital departments to provide necessary information and documents.
  • Report potential patient safety issues using the occurrence reporting system.
  • Attend monthly meetings and seminars as required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Critical thinking skills and decisive judgment are necessary.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision in a stressful environment.
  • Some customer service and medical office experience preferred.
  • Experience in a healthcare setting is a plus.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and insurance processes.
