About The Position

Job Summary: Performs technical preparation of cytology slides from ThinPrep samples for microscopic examination; presents quality control screening of slides.
Essential Functions:
Identify cytology specimens.
Create sample worksheets utilizing dMDL.
Label cytology imaging slides with patient identifiers.
Preparing slides utilizing ThinPrep 2000
Operate Veristain
Operate Tissue-Tek Film cover slipper for cytology imaging slides
Load and operate ThinPrep Imaging System
Process sample worksheets
Manual preparation of cytology slide using GAA protocol
Additional Responsibilities:
Coordination of waste disposal
Coordination with Cytology manager
Record keeping
Assures activities are conducted in a safe manner and materials are handled according to safety guidelines.
Assures customer privacy is maintained at all times.
Participates as a team member and is accountable for own work responsibilities.
Assures information is delivered in a manner that is supportive, timely and understandable.
Initiative is demonstrated to proactively diagnose and resolve problems.
Productive work habits are consistently displayed.
Accuracy and quality are maintained for all activities.

Requirements

• General Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA’s) required
• Ability to sit, stand, walk and perform repetitive motion
• Proficient visual and audio skills
• May be exposed to chemicals, body fluids.
• Use of personal protective equipment
• High school

Nice To Haves

• 3 month Clinical Laboratory Accessioner Training preferred
• Medical experience preferred
