Pathology Laboratory Assistant I- Evening

Please note: This position is for the evening shift; however, the selected candidate will need to be flexible during the initial training period, which may require working during the day or evening shifts. Training will typically last for the first few months, after which you will transition to the night shift schedule. We appreciate your flexibility and commitment to learning the role during this time. Job Summary Summary Performs a variety of clerical and technical duties under general supervision. Reports to a Laboratory Supervisor. Responsibilities include receipt, accessioning, centrifugation, and decanting of patient specimens, and communicating with clinicians at the Front Window and over the phone.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required
- Previous laboratory, healthcare and/or customer service experience 1-2 years required
- Good interpersonal and communication skills so as to be able to interact effectively with individuals in the lab and the hospital.
- Ability to multitask and work accurately under stress of time constraints and heavy workload demands.
- Demonstrates excellent dependability, reliability, accuracy, prioritization ability, problem solving skills, customer service and teamwork.
Responsibilities
- Assist with labeling, preservation, and fixation of specimens.
- Work closely with technologists to ensure specimens are processed timely and accurately.
- Monitor reagent and supply inventory.
- Organize patient specimen and assay worksheets/printouts for testing and technologist review.
- Use LIMS to upload documents and input critical data or comments.
- Clean and maintain lab equipment.
