About The Position

PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center is seeking a Pathologists Assistant for a Per Diem/Relief, 0.00 FTE, Variable position. The salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $45.14 - $67.70. The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, seniority, etc. Job Summary Applies principles and techniques related to surgical pathology, and histopathology within the scope of practice. Requirements

Bachelor's Degree Required: Health Sciences or equivalent
Accredited Program Required: Pathology Assistant or American Society of Clinical Pathologists Board of Governors (ASCP BOR) Certification
Minimum of 1 year Required: Experience (or combination of education and/or experience)
Required: within 1-1/2 Yrs American Association of Pathologists Assistantsor
Required: within 1-1/2 Yrs American Society of Clinical Pathologists Board of Governors

Responsibilities

Efficiently performs human surgical specimen examination; assists in tissue preparation for frozen section examinations; performs appropriate medical photography of gross specimens.
Ensures appropriate procedure documentation and document management; performs specimen accessioning utilizing anatomic pathology computer system as necessary.
Maintains gross room to include work environment, equipment and supplies.
Assists, initiates and/or implements certain specialized procedures and/or research projects as assigned by the Director; performs lead role in QA activities for Anatomic Pathology; participates as lab liaison on relevant teams, e.g. tumor board, breast conference, morbidity and mortality, etc.
May perform CAP (College of American Pathologists) compliance duties to include: periodic record reviews; equipment and test validation; development and maintenance of policy, procedure and guidance documents; proficiency testing and competency management; CAP inspection preparation, assessment and follow up; and technical and procedural advisement and referral.
