The ideal candidate will have relevant or direct experience and may also be required to perform routine histology tasks. Responsibilities include following authorized technical procedures for patient testing, meeting established turn-around-times for testing and reporting results, and receiving specimens into the laboratory with appropriate patient identifiers. The role also involves conducting calibration and maintenance of laboratory instruments, labeling tissue cassettes, and preparing patients for evisceration during autopsies. The assistant will work on call for autopsies, photograph specimens for documentation, and comply with all safety policies and procedures. Professional development and annual competency assessments are also part of the role.
