About The Position

Position Purpose: Supporting our pathologists in diagnosing diseases and conditions. You will be responsible for various laboratory and clinical tasks, including specimen handling, processing, and gross description.

Requirements

  • Experience in the field with appropriate educational background (Master's degree in Pathology or a related field preferred).
  • Certification as a Pathology Assistant (PA) or eligibility for certification preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of anatomy, histology, and pathology principles.
  • Proficiency in anatomic laboratory techniques, including frozen section and permanent specimen preparation.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Commitment to laboratory safety protocols and ethical standards.
  • Ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism and compassion.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct gross examinations and complex dissections of tissue samples, documenting relevant characteristics through dictation using Dragon/EPIC.
  • Assist pathologists in preparing tissue slides for microscopic examination.
  • Maintain accurate records of specimen information, test results, and patient data.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers and laboratory staff to ensure efficient specimen processing.
  • Contribute to quality control and quality assurance activities in the laboratory.
  • Stay updated with advancements in the field of pathology through ongoing education.
