About The Position

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited pathologist assistant program with certification by ASCP preferred or a minimum of 3 years applicable experience in an accredited laboratory environment.
  • Working knowledge of Pathologist Assistant theory.
  • Previous experience working with pathology residents.
  • Knowledge of remote pathology slide scanners for frozen sections such as Grundium and 3DHistech.
  • Experience with Epic, CoPath, and Voiceover Pro.

Responsibilities

  • Preparation, gross description, and dissection of human tissue surgical specimens.
  • Assuring appropriate specimen accessioning and describing gross anatomic features.
  • Photographing specimens when needed and preparing tissues for histologic processing.
  • Assisting with frozen section tissue cutting, slide staining, and specimen transport.
  • Identifying and sampling normal and tumor tissue for the Tumor Bank.
  • Performing administrative maintenance of surgical pathology protocols, reports, and data.
  • Maintaining equipment, supplies, and cleanliness of the surgical pathology suite.
  • Working with pathology residents and Pathologists' Assistant students.
  • Participating in educational programs and workshops for professional development.
  • Maintaining departmental policies, quality assurance programs, and safety standards.
