About The Position

Talent Consultants is looking for a dedicated and experienced Patent Attorney to join our esteemed intellectual property practice. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the patent process, from strategy development through to filing and prosecution, for a diverse range of clients across various industries. As a Patent Attorney, you will leverage your technical expertise in areas such as biotechnology, engineering, or computer science to advise clients on the best strategies for protecting their inventions and innovations. This role provides an exciting opportunity to work directly with clients and help shape their intellectual property portfolios.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Active attorney license in the state of practice.
  • 5-10 years of experience in patent law, with a strong focus on patent prosecution.
  • Technical background in engineering, computer science, biology, chemistry, or a related field is highly preferred.
  • USPTO registration is required.
  • Excellent analytical, drafting, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects efficiently and meet deadlines.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with patent litigation, licensing, and IP strategy is a plus.
  • Strong client management skills and the ability to build lasting relationships with clients.

Responsibilities

  • Draft, file, and prosecute patent applications, ensuring strong protection for clients' inventions.
  • Conduct patentability and freedom-to-operate assessments to guide clients in their innovation strategies.
  • Provide expert legal advice on patent strategy, portfolio management, and IP compliance.
  • Lead negotiations and communications with patent offices, including responding to office actions and appeals.
  • Assist in patent litigation and enforcement as needed, offering strategic guidance to clients.
  • Stay updated on developments in patent law, technology advancements, and industry trends.
  • Mentor junior associates and contribute to the knowledge sharing within the team.
