About The Position

The Patent Agent will play a key role in building and managing ImmunEdge’s intellectual property portfolio. This individual will work closely with research scientists and the leadership team to identify, evaluate, and protect inventions arising from ImmunEdge’s discovery and development programs. The successful candidate will help translate complex scientific discoveries arising from novel immunology and biologics discoveries into strong intellectual property strategies that support ImmunEdge’s long-term scientific and business objectives. This position requires deep scientific expertise with an advanced degree in one of the following fields: immunology, cell or molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics, cancer biology, pharmacology, or a related life sciences discipline. The ideal candidate should be a self-motivated, entrepreneurial, collaborative and intellectually curious scientist with a strategic mindset, strong scientific curiosity, and the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams in a dynamic and innovative start up biotechnology environment.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree in immunology, cell or molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics, cancer biology, pharmacology, or a related life sciences discipline required; Ph.D. preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience drafting and prosecuting biotechnology/pharmaceutical patent applications covering biologics and therapeutic antibodies.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex scientific data and translate experimental results into effective patent strategies with experience drafting patent claims and specifications.
  • Experience coordinating with external patent counsel and managing global patent prosecution strategies (including PCT and foreign filings).
  • Experience performing patentability, prior art, and freedom-to-operate analyses.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with scientists, executive leaders, and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced and collaborative start up research environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior in-house biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry experience preferred, though candidates with strong law firm experience supporting biotech/pharma clients are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with research and development teams and the executive leadership team to develop and execute intellectual property strategies that support ImmunEdge’s research pipeline, product development efforts, and long-term business objectives.
  • Work closely with ImmunEdge scientists to identify patentable discoveries emerging from ongoing research and development programs.
  • Work with external counsel to draft and prosecute U.S. and international patent applications.
  • Conduct and interpret prior art searches, patent landscape analyses, and freedom-to-operate assessments to support research planning and business decision-making.
  • Monitor competitive patent filings and emerging IP trends in immunology, biologics, and related therapeutic areas.
  • Maintain accurate and organized records of invention disclosures, patent filings, and prosecution activities.
