About The Position

Nelson Mullins, AmLaw 60 Firm, is seeking a Patent Agent with a degree in engineering and/or computer science and a minimum of two years of experience in patent drafting and prosecution. The successful candidate will collaborate with attorneys in our Charlotte and Minneapolis offices and will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies in a dynamic, team-oriented environment. In this role, you will collaborate closely with attorneys and clients across a range of innovative industries, including medical devices, banking, consumer products, software, electronics, and more. While technical expertise in mechanical, electrical, biomedical, computer science, or a related engineering field is preferred, it is not required. We welcome applications from candidates seeking hybrid or in-office work arrangements, with a strong preference for those based in or near Charlotte or Minneapolis. Drawing on your experience in patent prosecution, you will play a key role in building and managing both U.S. and international patent portfolios. Working as part of a collaborative and solutions-focused team, you will contribute to drafting and prosecuting patent applications, conducting due diligence reviews, and performing freedom-to-operate and patent landscape analyses. Requirements

  • At least two years of experience in patent preparation and prosecution
  • An undergraduate degree in engineering
  • Strong academic credentials

  • Polished writing skills
