Pastry Sous Chef Kalahari Resorts & Conventions is seeking a Pastry Sous Chef. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting the Pastry team in the success of all bake shop operations, assuring the proper preparation of all baked items for the Resort's restaurants, food, and beverage outlets, with a focus on conventions day-to-day pastry production and operations. As part of our leadership team, you’ll embody our Promise to Lead with Love—guiding, supporting, and inspiring associates while delivering extraordinary guest experiences. You’ll act as second-in-command, ensuring smooth operations and consistent standards when the Executive Pastry Chef is away. Weekends, evenings, and holiday availability are a must.

Requirements

  • We require a background of at least 2-3 years of progressive pastry experience with 1-2 years of bake shop management experience, preferably in a large volume environment such as a multi-unit hotel or resort.
  • Basic knowledge of P&L, food cost/inventory management, recipe costing, kitchen sanitation, and food safety regulations. 
  • Prior experience across multiple pastry mediums; bread making, sugar artistry, cake design, etc.
  • Prior BEO experience is preferred.
  • Passion for pastry operations.

Nice To Haves

  • Pastry Arts or Culinary Arts Degree
  • Prior experience with a Bake shop/pastry production is helpful.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.

Responsibilities

  • Works with the pastry team to produce quality pastries and service.
  • Use proper procedures and techniques for the creation of attractive, professional pastry items.
  • Inspect all bakery items upon completion to ensure they have been prepared correctly and attractively.
  • Collaborate effectively with pastry team to foster a positive environment.
