About The Position

the girl & the fig CATERS! is currently seeking a Pastry Production Chef . We are a restaurant group with multiple locations in the Sonoma Valley, which includes the girl & the fig in Sonoma, Poppy in Glen Ellen, the girl & the fig CATERS!, Suite D , and our FIGfood product line. We strive to use the best in local, sustainable food, and we continually develop many in-house programs to promote those ideals. Our second cookbook was released in 2011 and focuses on our seasonal Plats du Jour menu while also featuring many local farmers and artisan producers. Pastry Production Chefs assist in providing excellent quality, consistency, and presentation of all pastries, cakes, and desserts for guests in the restaurant and catered events. This is a production position that will be based in our catering kitchen.

Requirements

Must have at least two years of applicable experience
Ability to provide or complete CA Food Handler certification and renew as necessary
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, recipe books, and procedural manuals
Ability to lift up to 50lbs and regularly move items between 10-20lbs
Ability to stand for long periods of time
An acute sense of taste and smell

Responsibilities

Assist in production for restaurant locations, including desserts, ice cream, and breads
Assist in development, production and decoration of custom cake orders
Prepare and decorate a variety of goods, such as cakes, cookies, pies, bread, etc.
Handle food properly and understand use of kitchen tools, equipment, and safety procedures
Maintain an organized and clean work area and a high level of kitchen cleanliness
