About The Position

The Pastry Maker at Earth Fare Roanoke is responsible for upholding the company's Vision, Mission, Declaration, and Customer Service Creed, while adhering to the department's Standard Operating Procedures. This role involves working independently and as part of a team to ensure that daily pastries for the dry case and sales floor are baked and decorated according to production guidelines. The Pastry Maker will also open and close the Bakery Department as needed and is tasked with providing exceptional customer service at all times.

Requirements

  • Previous experience baking or cooking in a restaurant, bakery, or catering environment preferred.
  • Experience working in a retail and/or customer service-oriented environment preferred.
  • Must demonstrate excellent customer service to customers and Team Members at all times.
  • Must be able to work independently and within a team setting.
  • Must be organized and pay close attention to detail.
  • Must be able to multi-task and assist customers while completing necessary production duties within the bakery.
  • Must be able to read and follow both written and verbal instructions from the Bakery Manager and other store management.
  • Must demonstrate manual dexterity with potentially hazardous equipment (mixers, slicers, ovens, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to Earth Fare vision, standard operating procedures, and merchandising guidelines with a strong emphasis on customer service, safety, and sanitation.
  • Bake and decorate cakes, cupcakes, and other pastries according to Earth Fare's Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Fill par levels established by the Bakery Manager and maintain the pastry case and sales floor, including product, signage, proper rotation, and freshness.
  • Provide excellent customer service at the bakery counter and other areas as needed.
  • Turn ovens and other equipment on and off as required.
  • Scoop batter for muffins, cookies, and breakfast items to prepare for the following day's production.
  • Package dry case items to move baked goods to the sales floor.
  • Wrap pastry trays to ensure proper freshness and storage.
  • Slice bread for customers as needed.
  • Participate in scheduled inventory counts and attend required department and store meetings.
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned by the Bakery Manager.
  • Maintain an attractive sales floor by implementing Earth Fare merchandising guidelines.
  • Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and overall organization of the department, including all fixtures, storage, work stations, freezers, and coolers.
