Bellini at Mr. C Coconut Grove is looking to hire a Pastry Cook to join our kitchen staff and maintain cleanliness around our restaurant. YOUR ROLE AS A PASTRY COOK We are looking for pastry cooks that will be responsible for preparing food items in accordance with portion and quality standards specified in recipes. Control food usage to minimize waste. Ultimately, you will contribute to delivering a pleasant dining experience for our guests.

Requirements

  • Work experience as a pastry cook or similar role
  • Willingness to work as a team player when preparing dishes and coordinating meal service
  • Organizational skills to maintain an orderly workspace and kitchen
  • Hands-on experience with professional kitchen equipment
  • Good knowledge of food plating techniques
  • Understanding of health and safety rules in a kitchen
  • Physical stamina and the ability to stand for extended periods of time when cooking and preparing food
  • Willingness to work required shifts, i.e., night shift, breakfast rush, including evenings and weekends
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment

Nice To Haves

  • A degree from a culinary school is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the preparation of all cakes, cookies, desserts, ice creams and other food items prepared in the pastry shop and bakery. Ensure that all desserts are prepared in an attractive and appetizing manner.
  • Regularly inspect the quality and quantity of pastry, croissants, breads and other bakery goods for the buffets and for all outside orders.
  • Check daily function sheets and prepare items accordingly.
  • Ensure the proper handling, cleanliness and maintenance of the working area (including marble, ice cream machine and cold room, etc.). Maintain sanitation, cleanliness, safety and health standards. Inspect the sanitation, operation and cleanliness of all tools, equipment and supplies, including ovens.
  • Prepare and cook orders for daily operations.
  • Advice supervisor of low inventory items; assists in receiving items and taking inventory as required.
  • Maintain sanitation and cleanliness standards in the kitchen area that meet or exceed the state and local Health Board inspection and Holiday Inn requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, neat and well-organized work area, including but not limited to reach-ins, walk-ins and counters. Reports all unsafe or malfunctioning equipment to supervisor.
